Homemade apple pie made with granny smith apples.

Apple Pie

Every Fall, I head up to the North Georgia Mountains to go apple picking with my son. We ditch The Hubs (sorry, babe) and go have a Mommy and Munch day. We have carpool karaoke, we stop at the sunflower farm, we go to the orchard and pick apples, get some fried hand pies and other treats from the orchard store, pick a spot to eat for lunch, then head on back to the city. I joked with my son that now he is a teenager, he won’t want to do this kind of stuff with me anymore; I figured he would probably want to hang with his friends. My son burst out laughing when I said this; I mean full on belly laugh. He replied, “No way. I’m going to recruit my friends to join us because then we can pick more apples, which means more apple pie. There’s no way I’m missing out on that.” We both laughed until we almost cried. I always knew my son loved my apple pie, but I guess I didn’t realize just how much.

Since my son loves my apple pie so much, I figured I would share it with all of my foodie friends. Enough talking about it, let’s get baking.
