Cinnamon French Toast

1 Mins read

Cinnamon French Toast. Let’s be honest. Who doesn’t love cinnamon french toast? It is one of the first breakfast meals that my mothers taught me how to make. My recipe is quite simple, but you can easily spruce it up with various toppings and fresh fruit.

If you are having friends or family over and really want to wow them, simply set up a toppings bar for the french toast. Trust me, they will like it. Now let’s get to it.

Servings: 3  ·  Prep time: 5 min  ·  Cook time: 10 min  ·  Ready in: 15 min  ·  Skill level: Novice

Ingredients

  • 6 slices of toast
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons of freshly grated cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons of canola oil
  • powdered sugar (for topping)

Method

In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cinnamon and vanilla extract.

In a medium-sized, non-stick skillet, heat the canola oil to a medium heat.

Dredge each piece of bread, one at a time, into the egg mixture. (Do not dredge the bread until you are ready to place it into the skillet. The bread will get too soggy and break apart if you let it sit in the mixture for too long.)

Place the dredged pieces of bread into the skillet one at at time, but be be sure to leave enough room so that you can turn each piece over.

Brown each side of the bread for 1-2 minutes and then remove each piece from the pan. Repeat the dredging and frying process until you have used all of the bread.

Slice the french toast into diagonal halves, plate, sprinkle with powdered sugar and enjoy. Feel free to serve with warm maple syrup and/or fresh fruit.
