Mini Philly Cheesesteaks

1 Mins read
Hawaiian Sweet Mini Sub Rolls packed with Angus-beef, sauteed peppers and onions and melted American cheese

Game Day food is all about having things that are delicious, not overly complicated, and easy to hold in one hand so that you can hold your beer in the other. Am I right? Well, these mini Philly cheesesteaks definitely fit the criteria and while they may be mini in size, they are certainly big in flavor. Let’s get cooking.

Servings: 6  ·  Yield: 6  ·  Prep time: 5 min  ·  Cook time: 15 min  ·  Ready in: 20 min  ·  Skill level: Novice

Ingredients

  • 1 small onion
  • 1 medium-sized bell pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of canola oil
  • 1lb of Angust roast beef (thinly sliced)
  • ground black pepper (to taste)
  • salt (to taste)
  • American cheese slices
  • 6 mini sub (hoagie) rolls

Method

Wash, peel, and slice the onion and bell pepper. Then, bring the canola oil to a medium heat in a skillet and sauté the onion and bell pepper for about 4 minutes, stirring the onion and pepper constantly so that they do not stick to the pan. Remove the onion and pepper from the pan and set aside.

Then, brown the beef in the skillet by placing each slice down and allowing it to cook for about 1-2 minutes per side. Sprinkle each side with salt and pepper, to taste, and then remove from the skillet. Repeat this step until all of the beef has been used.

On a cutting board, chop the beef into bit sized pieces. Open each hoagie bun and place a slice of cheese on the bottom of the bun and top the cheese with as much beef as you would like.

Top the beef with a serving of the sautéed peppers and onions. Then, place another slice of cheese on top. Repeat this step until all of the mini sub rolls have been used.

Sit back, relax, and enjoy the game.
